Who We Are
Rossville Church of Christ is a safe place for those who are seeking to
hear, investigate and believe the message of Jesus Christ the Son of
God.
RCC was born from a movement called the "Restoration Heritage."
This heritage is not a denomination, but rather a coming together of
Christians with a common plea for restoring the unity of the Lord's
church, based on biblical authority, for world evangelism.
Our Purpose Statement
Rossville Church of Christ is a Christ-centered family committed to SERVING God who
makes things grow, CULTIVATING loving relationships with one another, PLANTING the
gospel seed at home and abroad, and GATHERING souls ready for harvest.
Our Vision
To become a growing family of Christians who are passionately committed to:
The Great Commandment: Loving God first, then others. (Mark 12:29-31)
The Great Commission: Helping people to meet and follow Jesus and become like Him!
(Matthew 28:19-20)
Our Central Beliefs
•
We believe in one God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, John 14:9-10)
•
We believe God is the Creator of man as well as heaven and earth. (Genesis 1:1,
Acts 17:24-28)
•
We believe in Jesus Christ as God’s only Son who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life
and was resurrected from the dead. We recognize Jesus as humanity’s only means of
salvation. (John 3:16, Matthew 1:18, John 20:24-31, John 14:6, Hebrews 4:15)
•
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian. (John 16:5-15, 1 Corinthians 6:19)
•
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the final authority for all matters of
faith. (Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16)
•
We believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned, and as a result, is lost and without
hope apart from Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:7)
•
We believe that salvation, the forgiveness of sins and entrance into new life, comes by
grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (His death on the cross and resurrection to new
life). (Matthew 26:28, Romans 5:8-11, Ephesians 2:8-9)
•
We believe the Bible teaches that the following elements are necessary to receive Jesus as
Savior: to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal
sin, to confess Jesus as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism; and that none of these alone
is sufficient. (Luke 24:45-47, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-7, 2 Peter 3:9)
•
We believe God expects that a genuine conversion will result in a changed life in which
every disciple will participate in the lifelong, ongoing process of spiritual transformation.
(Romans 6:4, Ephesians 4:17-24, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Peter 1:3-4)
•
We believe that the Church is the body and bride of Christ, founded on the day of
Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere. (Matthew 16:13-18, Acts 2:14-47)
•
We believe it is God’s plan for Elders to shepherd the local church. (Acts 20:28,
1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
•
We believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit
eternal life in heaven with God; the unsaved, eternal separation from God in hell.
(Romans 8:10-11, Daniel 12:2, John 6:47, Matthew 25:31-46)
